OXFORD BROOKES UNIVERSITY CASE STUDY
OVERVIEW
Oxford Brookes University, recognised as one of the UK's leading modern institutions for higher education, embarked on an innovative project to enhance student amenities by incorporating advanced technological solutions within its campus.

Understanding the evolving needs of its students, especially the necessity to securely store and charge essential electronic devices such as laptops and tablets, the university decided to implement a state-of-the-art intelligent locker system. This initiative led to the installation of three intelligent iLockerz systems across strategic locations within the campus, with each system featuring 22 windowed compartments, addressing both security and charging
needs for the student body.
CHALLENGES
The primary challenge faced by Oxford Brookes University was to provide a secure, accessible, and efficient means for students to store and charge their devices on campus. With an increasing reliance on electronic devices for academic purposes, students needed a safe place to store their belongings, especially when attending classes or engaging in campus activities. Furthermore, the university aimed to address the lack of charging facilities that could accommodate a range of devices, including those requiring USB-C, USB-A, and traditional 3-pin plug connections. The need for a solution that could seamlessly integrate into the campus environment without extensive modifications was also a significant consideration.

SOLUTION
In response to these challenges, iLockerz was commissioned to design and implement a system tailored to the university's specific requirements. The project resulted in the installation of three locker systems, each equipped with 22 windowed compartments to allow for visual confirmation of stored items and to ensure a high level of security. To cater to the diverse charging needs, one of the locker systems was equipped with USB-C leads in each compartment, while another system featured Power Distribution Units (PDU) with 3-pin sockets and USB-A sockets, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of devices.

Additionally, to maintain the devices' safety and longevity, ventilation hoods and back plates were retrofitted to all three systems, promoting adequate airflow and reducing the risk of overheating during charging sessions. This thoughtful integration of features demonstrated iLockerz's commitment to providing a comprehensive solution that met the university's needs.
RESULTS
The implementation of the iLockerz intelligent locker systems at Oxford Brookes University has been met with positive feedback from the student body and faculty alike. The systems have successfully addressed the need for secure storage and versatile charging options, significantly enhancing the student experience on campus. Students now enjoy the convenience and peace of mind of being able to store their devices securely and charge them simultaneously, without the need to carry bulky chargers or worry about finding available outlets.
